FCC Compliance
Regulatory information for the Ventos sensor and charging pad.
Last updated: [Date]
1. Introduction and scope
Ventoscity, Inc. (“Ventoscity,” “we,” “us”) designs and sells Ventos, a wearable continuous microbiome monitor that pairs with the Ventos app over Bluetooth. This policy explains how we meet the rules of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for the Ventos device, the Ventos app, and our website.
- Legal name: Ventoscity, Inc.
- Entity type: Delaware corporation
- Address: 251 Little Falls Drive, Wilmington, DE 19808
- Support email: support@ventos.city
This policy covers:
- The Ventos device: the wearable, its charger, and any accessory that emits radio frequency (RF) energy.
- The Ventos app: the mobile app that connects to the device and sends notifications or messages.
- The website: ventoscity.com, the waitlist and the online store, including how we advertise the device before and after FCC authorization.
It applies to Ventoscity employees, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, and marketing partners who build, label, advertise, import, or sell Ventos in the United States.
2. Equipment authorization
No Ventos device will be sold, delivered to a customer, or operated outside testing until it holds a valid FCC authorization. Because Ventos transmits over Bluetooth, it is an intentional radiator under 47 CFR Part 15 and needs Certification.
- Bluetooth radio in the device: Intentional radiator (Part 15, Subpart C). Authorization path: Certification through an FCC-recognized Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB), after testing at an FCC-recognized accredited lab.
- Device electronics other than the radio, and the charger: Unintentional radiator / Class B digital device (Part 15, Subpart B). Authorization path: Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC), or included in the Certification filing.
- Ventos app: Software only; emits no RF itself. Authorization path: no equipment authorization; must not change the device’s certified RF settings (see section 6).
How we obtain and keep authorization:
- Ventoscity registers with the FCC and holds an FCC Registration Number (FRN) and grantee code, so Ventoscity, Inc. is the grantee of record.
- Depending on the hardware version, Ventos uses a pre-certified Murata MBN52832 Bluetooth module (Nordic nRF52832; FCC ID HSW2832) or an Insight SiP ISP2454 Bluetooth module (FCC ID 2AAQS-ISP2454). We follow the module’s grant conditions and integration instructions, and we still test the finished device for Subpart B emissions.
- The test lab and TCB must be FCC-recognized and not on the FCC’s list of prohibited labs or certification bodies.
- Ventoscity, Inc., as a U.S. company, is the responsible party for any SDoC.
- A new or changed design (radio, antenna, enclosure or firmware that affects RF) is reviewed before release to decide whether a permissive change or new filing is needed.
3. Labeling and user-information statements
The certified Bluetooth module in Ventos depends on the hardware version. Units with the Murata MBN52832 module (based on the Nordic nRF52832) use “Contains FCC ID: HSW2832”. Units with the Insight SiP ISP2454 module use “Contains FCC ID: 2AAQS-ISP2454”. The FCC ID supplied with each unit identifies the module installed in that unit. The statements below accompany the product in the quick-start guide, online manual and app.
Where the FCC ID goes. The device is too small for a readable label, so:
- The FCC ID appears on the retail box and in the printed quick-start guide and online manual.
- The FCC ID and statements also appear electronically in the Ventos app, reachable in no more than three steps from the app’s settings, with no code or special permission needed. The app path is: Settings > About > Regulatory.
- The box tells buyers where to find the electronic label, and the label data is locked so third parties cannot change it.
- The label identifies the installed module: “Contains FCC ID: HSW2832” for Murata MBN52832, or “Contains FCC ID: 2AAQS-ISP2454” for Insight SiP ISP2454. Use the identifier supplied with your unit.
Part 15 compliance statement (47 CFR 15.19)
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Modification warning (47 CFR 15.21)
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Ventoscity, Inc. could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
Class B digital device statement (47 CFR 15.105(b))
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

4. RF exposure
Ventos is worn against the body, so it is a portable device under 47 CFR 2.1093 and must meet the FCC’s RF exposure limits for the general public in 47 CFR 1.1310 (a SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1 gram of tissue).
- The test lab evaluates the device at its worn position and maximum output power, and documents either a test exemption under 47 CFR 1.1307(b)(3) or a SAR test result in the Certification filing.
- Any change to transmit power, antenna or how the device is worn is re-evaluated before release.
- The manual states how the device is meant to be worn, and we add an RF exposure statement if the grant requires one.
- Marketing and app copy never claim the device emits “no radiation” or “zero RF”.
5. Marketing before authorization
Until the FCC grant is issued, the website, app, emails, social posts and events may advertise Ventos and take conditional orders, but no device ships to a customer. These rules come from 47 CFR 2.803.
- Waitlist, landing page, ads, social posts, press: Allowed: yes. What we must do: show the advertising notice below on every page or ad that shows or describes the device.
- Showing the device at events or in photos and video: Allowed: yes. What we must do: display the same notice; a working demo may only run as the rules allow (47 CFR 2.805).
- Pre-orders or Early Access reservations, paid or unpaid: Allowed: yes, as conditional sales. What we must do: give the conditional-sale disclosure below at checkout, before payment.
- Shipping or handing a device to a customer: Allowed: no. What we must do: wait until the grant is issued and listed in the FCC database.
- Moving stock to a retailer or fulfillment partner: Allowed: only after lab testing is complete and the Certification application is filed. What we must do: each unit or box carries the temporary label below.
Advertising notice (website, app store listing, ads):
This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.
Where we take conditional orders, the checkout page uses the conditional-sale disclosure in place of the sentence “is not, and may not be, offered for sale.”
Conditional-sale disclosure (checkout and order confirmation email):
Ventos is subject to the rules of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Delivery of your Ventos device is conditional on the device successfully completing the FCC equipment authorization process. FCC rules do not address consumer protection, contract or other rights you may have under federal or state law. If Ventos does not receive FCC authorization, Ventoscity, Inc. will cancel your order and refund the full amount you paid. Questions: support@ventos.city.
Temporary label for stock moved before the grant:
This device cannot be delivered to end users, displayed, or operated until the device receives certification from the FCC.
Other conditions:
- Ventoscity, Inc. keeps legal ownership of every unit until it is delivered after the grant, and can recall units if authorization fails.
- We keep records of every conditional sale for 60 months.
- When the grant issues, we remove the pre-authorization notices and add the FCC ID and statements in section 3. The website’s “launched” switch must not go live before then.
6. Modifications, components and supply chain
Only the device as certified may be sold, and no part of it may come from a company on the FCC’s Covered List.
- No unapproved changes. Firmware, app updates and hardware changes may not alter transmit power, frequency, antenna or other certified RF settings without engineering and compliance sign-off and, where required, a permissive change filing.
- App and firmware updates. Over-the-air updates are released only from Ventoscity’s signed update channel, and users cannot unlock RF settings.
- Covered List screening. Before choosing a Bluetooth chip, module or contract manufacturer, we check the FCC Covered List. Since an FCC order released October 29, 2025, the ban on authorizing covered equipment also applies to modular transmitters, and “produced by” includes any entity with substantial control over a major stage of production.
- Labs. We use only test labs and TCBs that are FCC-recognized and not owned or controlled by a prohibited entity under the FCC’s 2025 “bad labs” rules.
- Suppliers. Manufacturing and supply contracts require suppliers to build to the certified design, notify us of any part change, and confirm they are not Covered List entities.
7. Calls and texts to customers (TCPA)
Ventoscity sends marketing texts or automated calls only to people who gave prior express written consent, and stops within 10 business days of an opt-out. These rules come from the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the FCC’s rules at 47 CFR 64.1200.
- Consent. Any SMS signup on the website, waitlist or app uses an unchecked box and plain wording: who is texting (Ventoscity, Inc.), what kind of messages, that message and data rates may apply, that consent is not a condition of purchase, and how to opt out. We keep a record of each consent (phone number, time, page and wording shown).
- Opt-outs. Every marketing text says “Reply STOP to opt out.” We honor STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL and UNSUBSCRIBE, and any other reasonable request (including to support@ventos.city), within 10 business days. A marketing opt-out stops all marketing messages.
- Informational messages. Order, shipping and account texts are sent only to numbers the customer provided for that purpose, and are never mixed with marketing.
- Timing and lists. No marketing calls or texts before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. in the recipient’s local time. We check the National Do Not Call Registry before telemarketing and keep an internal do-not-call list.
- Vendors. SMS platforms and agencies that message on our behalf must follow this section; Ventoscity remains responsible.
- Rule changes. The FCC revised its consent-revocation rules on October 1, 2026 (FCC 26-67), which will let businesses designate an exclusive opt-out method once the order takes effect. Until then, we accept opt-outs by any reasonable means.
App push notifications are governed by the user’s device settings, not the TCPA. Marketing email follows the FTC’s CAN-SPAM rules and our Privacy Policy.
8. Records, responsibilities and contact
Ventoscity’s compliance lead owns this policy and signs off on every product release, label, manual and pre-launch page that mentions FCC status.
- Records. We keep test reports, the grant or SDoC, label artwork, manuals, RF exposure evaluations and supplier declarations for as long as the device is marketed and at least as long as FCC rules require. Conditional-sale records are kept for 60 months.
- Requests from the FCC. We respond on time to any FCC request for samples, test data or records.
- Interference reports. If a customer reports that Ventos causes or suffers interference, support logs it and escalates it to the compliance lead, who decides whether a fix, recall or FCC notice is needed.
- Training. Marketing, support and product teams review this policy before launch and when it changes.
- Updates. We review this policy before each new product or major firmware release, and at least once a year.
